Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. Cameron Diaz is as beautiful to listen to hear as she is to look at in her other films. The movie slogs through a story about Shrek and Fiona having to replace the deceased frog king unless they can find another heir. Lithgow just makes you smile whenever he opens his mouth, like when he grills a hapless gingerbread man in such a convoluted way it turns into a nursery-rhyme recitation. With the passing of King Harold, Shrek and Fiona are heirs to the throne of Far, Far Away.
The wind whispers through the grasslands and the characters' hair; the lightning and clouds are really there. There are total of 4 movies in this movie series. Shrek is perfect for everybody to see. Not good, I'm sorry to say. We're talking freckles, skin pores and stubble, pupil dilation, and amazing light-and-shade. I don't know if everyone will agree, but so far I know a few people know that there is something lacking from the world of Shrek.
Little does he know is that his old enemy, the ruthless Prince Charming, is plotting to take over the kingdom with an army of fairy-tale villains at his command. A very charming movie worth your time. Basically I spent the movie forcing myself to laugh because, hey, I was watching a Shrek movie. Take it as it is. Two hours later, we dragged a friend out and went back for the evening show. The only solution is having someone else take the throne.
And what a plot it's got! But no one could have prepared them for the sight of their new son-in-law, not to mention how much their little girl had changed. They fit really nice into the movie. But it doesn't stop there. I was not too amused with the Disney princesses characters. One clever tool Shrek uses to humor the audience is its spoof on other fairy tales. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad.
As a huge fan of the first two movies, I was sure this one would not disappoint. The characters are so real, so lifelike, it makes you feel you're there. Her character, Princess Fiona, doesn't have as much room to shine as Shrek the balance turns out better in the sequel but she does well with what she's given. I spotted mis quotes from films that are just being released, both Disney and non-Disney. And the spark is gone. And it tries, it really did try. Eddie Murphy was, no doubt, the perfect actor for him. A film with a few moments does not win against a good, simple movie. It stands alone in its appeal to people of all ages and in its presentation of comedy, romance, and creative story line.
The dragon is a comic relief, but still provides most of the action in the movie. No, wait, you're watching a movie. The movie has a brilliant story line, following the path of an initially moody ogre as he discovers friendship and love all in the face of hysterical comedy. Shrek 2001 Spanish Subtitles When a green ogre named Shrek discovers his swamp has been 'swamped' with all sorts of fairytale creatures by the scheming Lord Farquaad, Shrek sets out with a very loud donkey by his side to 'persuade' Farquaad to give Shrek his swamp back. In addition, Shrek has plenty of subtle innuendo and more adult themes running seamlessly along side the story, much of which may pass younger children by, without spoiling any element of their enjoyment; while at the same time enhancing the enjoyment for the older viewers. In a faraway land called Duloc, a heartless ruler, the diminutive Lord Farquaad, has banished all the fairy tale beings from the land so it can be as boring as he is.
They are kind of funny, but at the time of viewing you won't really feel like laughing. There can be nothing offensive from Shrek unless you have something against overthrowing tyrants and good-natured humor. But, the trailer looked great and the stories have worked so far, my mom and I saw the premier show today and while the movie has great laughs, there seemed to be something lacking in the Shrek world. It's a full parody of numerous fairytales, and its humor is, well, humor at its best. You never really feel any interest in what is happening or what will happen to the characters because you know exactly whats going to happen. Instead, a deal is made. They had to tone down the realism of the humanoids to stop them looking creepily android-like.
But the characters seemed to be lacking the same chemistry as they did in the first two films. Maintaining your fierce public persona is no simple task when you're juggling infants and changing diapers, so when Shrek realises that nobody is afraid of him anymore he recruits mischief-maker Rumpelstiltskin to restore his once-mighty roar. And these moments aren't cheesy or anything. Shrek and Princess Fiona return from their honeymoon to find an invitation to visit Fiona's parents, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Far, Far Away. I think the characters didn't seem to click as well as they did in the first two.
